Been stitchin' up a storm lately in preparation for the upcoming RISD Alumni Holiday Art Sale, see the post below for links ...
Black Cat Head Tea Cozy, made from felted wool sweaters (white nose area is from an angora sweater I had in high school, it's soooo soft!), wool felt, jingle bells, yarn (whiskers),embroidery floss. The inside is lined with a felted wool blanket. This is entirely hand-stitched.
I've been experimenting with egg cozies. Using up all those scrippy-scraps of sweaters, felt, and trim = fun! I like using little white beads to make the "glint" in my guys' eyes, gives them a spark of life!
(I got these egg cups the last day of my 1994 trip to London. I had spare change, and decided to see what I could get in Harrod's for that amount. You see the result of that self-inflicted challenge.)
Above are some more finished finger puppets... pretty self-explanatory, with a few exceptions:
Big Lobster, since folks liked the last lobster I did... this one needed teeth and a tongue, cuz, you know...
Second row, second picture: a cardinal, inspired by the ladybug next to him. Cardinal has a tux bib and bowtie, Ladybug has sticky-outty, polka-dotty wings in the back.
A horse, because I was interested in making the mane. His nostrils crack me up. As do most nostrils.
