The latest finger puppet, Empress Martia ("Martia, Martia, Martia!"), the product of working my way through the All Request Hour. (Snail? Check. Martian with three eyeballs and deely-bobbers? Check-check.)
Her ruff was made from some metallic silver lace that I ran a stitch thru and then gathered, gluing it in place on the piece of polka-dotty metallic material (the cape). The cape material already had a pinked edge, so I ran with that. Who am I to fly in the face of a pinked edge?
Her necklace was some silver ball cording, if that's the proper term. (The lace, the material, and the balled stuff: all from my sister. She's a one-stop finger puppet supply shop.)
The gem at the Empress' throat came from this collection of doll plastic-y dress-y upp-y stuff that I got at a garage sale years & years ago (above).
I imagine that if the Empress were to carry a pocketbook, that she'd like the silver one. She'd be like HRH Elizabeth in the movie The Queen, who carried her handbag with her most of the time. That reminded me of my Grandma Jeffery, who kept smelling salts in her purse.
