The Altered Dictionary (kite & kitten & knit & knitting)
This time out, I challenged myself to use more words & color & to reveal a little story...
... Little Kitten uses his Mom's yarn to fly his kite @ nite, but his Mom doesn't get mad, she just uses another skein to knit him up some warm woolen mittens, cuz paws get chilly flying kites @ nite. Proven fact.

Below, a close-up showing other words on the page -- kind-hearted and kindle -- good names for stars I think!

Thanks, mom2fur! Hey, here's a link to a photo I took of the duck statues at the Boston Public Garden last year (follow the photo stream to see two more).

That's a classic, and the illustrations are just marvelous!

Your altered dictionary pages are a riot! I've never seen anything like them.
I love your list of favorite childhood books. "A Little Princess" was my favorite! I can still remember the first book I ever checked out of the library, too: "Make Way for Ducklings." Thanks for bringing back some nice memories.

My sister Jane & I were discussing a word I had heard on a forensic investigators dvd. I didn't know how to spell the word, so was having a heckuva time trying to find its meaning, even after searching thru a bunch of possible spelling combos.
I should have known she would know the word!
Then, pesky kid sister that I am, I wanted to know the root word, too.
Here's her late nite e-mail to me:
"Subject: One Bloody Word after another...
Abattoir - slaughterhouse
from the word Abattre - to beat down
Abatteur - slaughterer
so now you know."

See that word at the upper right -- kobold? I wasn't familiar with that word, and since I've covered it up with color, here's what it means:
1. a helpful or mischievous sprite in households; brownie
2. a gnome in mines and other underground places
