Prompt for the 13th was Hearts a-plenty. I've just been doodling hearts... a lot of hearts... I was a little heart-ed out. So I decided to go in another direction and do a family portrait of the Royal Heart playing card family. I'd done a ton of sketching prior to doing work on my chapter in the Wee Faerie Village's "Alice in a Steampunk'd Wonderland" exhibit, so delved back into that sketchbook to get inspiration for this piece. Because of my love for nursery rhymes, I HAD to write, "Before that unfortunate 'TART' incident..." but you can tell that the knave is already plotting... just look at his smirk.
Prompt for the 14th, "Cupid's arrow" left me in a similar place that I'd experienced with the hearts -- I'd just drawn a ton, so wasn't feeling a whole lotta JUICE to draw more. Then what did a dig-through of my ephemera bin yield? A Mexican Bingo card that was just perfect. This is what happens to me: I'll pick a piece, like this Bingo card, and BAM! the whole idea occurs to me -- a sort of Urkel meets Cupid, but I have to keep it in a Spanish dialect to go with "El Corazon". Then it's just a matter of putting it together.
