The next finished spread...
It was too rainy to see out the window to draw the housing development across the street, so I went inside.
Yeah, I have a baby monitor in my bedroom. Do I have a baby? No, but I have an 86-year-old father...
The character is a marionette I made. So, to recap: Marionettes and Baby Monitors for Senior Citizens.
This is my life.
... for the next day I had an image of a cookie in my "stash", and in playing around with its positioning on the page, it just seemed like the girl from the day prior needed a twin. I gave the cookie a mouth (so she could sing) with my go-to pen of the moment, the Pilot Acroball AND a white gel pen. The girls needed some names, so Cookie and Sukey seemed apt.
For the "Under the big top" prompt, I couldn't bear to draw elephants and trapezes and oh-my-god NO. Doing that = I'll need to get paid. Heehee -- sorry -- I'm mercenary sometimes. I have a fair amount of interest in clowns -- all kinds from rodeo to opera to creepy -- so here's what I came up with. Nothing sketched first on this page -- just drawn -- straight from the pen. Sketching first = too much like paid work, and I want this to be FUN. Besides, I want to trust myself enough to just DRAW, and know that if something gets messed up, that I can figure out a way to work it out.
Hope you like; thanks for looking.
