Sometimes it's interesting to see a sketch for an illustration.
(Let's hope that's the case here.)

Hidden in this to-be autumnal scene are the following: chicken leg, hamburger, egg, pizza, ice cream cone, cupcake, donut, waffle, apple, sandwich.
In creating this, not only did I have to think about how to use shapes, I also had to consider the colors that these food items would need to be. For example: I can't change the chicken leg to RED to suit my purposes -- it needs to remain in the tan range.
The outlined boxy shapes are where the type will go.
The two outer boundary lines mean:
Inner line: cut line, meaning that's the actual size of the printed page -- keep all yer important stuff inside this line!
Outer line: bleed line, meaning that your art needs to extend to this line, to take into account any inconsistencies in cutting.
Will show this piece in its other stages: inking & color!
