Turn in Your Piece for Peace!

Cannoliguns3

Not only is Babycakes Jr. a world-class baker, he's ALSO a civic-minded community leader. It's his commitment to his fellow citizens that led him to implement a gun turn-in program, with a drop-off point RIGHT IN HIS BAKERY... and what's more incentivizing than FREE PASTRY? Since Sal feels he's TURNING OVER a new leaf, he's putting the squeeze on Babycakes for some free apple TURNOVERs, too. Oh, Sal, you'll never REALLY change, will you?

(Cannoli are made from polymer clay. Just for this joke. YUP.)

Illustration Friday: SOAKED

Wetnessprotection

When they agreed to become state witnesses, Fabriczio, Vinny and Sal thought they'd be given new identities and be moved to some exotic locale. But no: they stayed in Providence and just got umbrellas.

Other SOAKED illustrations here.

Just Horsin' Around

Mobsterprank

On this April Fools' Day, Winnie thought it'd be funny to act out a scene from "The Godfather" for Fabriczio, Vinnie, and Sal. How was she supposed to know they'd get so upset? Sheesh. It's a JOKE. ReLAX.

Beefing Up Financial Documents. It's What's For Dinner.

 Cookingthebooks3

The mobsters have made books, so now they're cooking them (and toasting them and sauteing them), but they aren't consulting cookbooks. They like to just wing it in the kitchen.

Crafty Mobsters

So, as it turns out, the mobsters are artsy-craftsy types -- what're the odds of that happening?

Bookmaking_2

For this joke (click on to see larger), I hardly had any props, so after researching the various tools needed in the art of book making, the weekend was filled with making paintbrushes, foam brushes, awls, pencils, Exacto knives, glue bottes, a roll of tape, a cutting mat, a bone folder, and yes: little books. I'll show close-ups of these minis in post(s) to come, with tips on making yer own. Whee!

Exhibit A.

Fencing4_3

The mobsters will admit to "fencing property", but NOT the STOLEN variety. Here, should it please the court, is photographic PROOF re: what they were REALLY all about: helping their horse friend Winnie keep good boundaries. (Fabriczio has even brought an apple for Winnie. Now, would someone who was BAD do that?)

Ring About to be Collared

Moneylaundering

Today the mobsters, not wanting to be accused of dirty dealings, are hoping they'll all come out in the wash.

It's nice having my props back from the museum exhibit (wash tub), because now I can make images I've been thinking about for awhile. Click on photo to see it larger.

Court Time. Without Benefit of an Attorney.

What do mobsters do with their free time? Turns out: not much different from what they do for work, but with one SUBTLE difference.

Racketeering2

Above my finger puppets Vinny, Sal, and Fabriczio are playing with tennis rackets (flea market purchases with silver Sharpie additions) and wet felted "tennis" balls with stitching that the dog puppets are letting them borrow -- they're kind of afraid NOT to, know what I mean?
